To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Wizard of Oz and benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Warner Bros. and Swarovski Crystal have enlisted 20 designers to design their version of Dorothy's ruby red slippers. Diane von Furstenburg, Oscar de la Renta, Jimmy Choo (shown above), and Manolo Blahnik are all on the roster. Betsey Johnson said her pair went “as high as I could go, as sparkly as I could go and as fun and full of polka dots and a tulle bow as I could make them” while a more understated Tibi did a red crocodile with a small flower for a luxurious, feminine feel. The shoes will be auctioned in Fall 2009.
