Sweet Scent

Last night marked the elaborate launch party for the first fragrance by John Galliano. The Galliano headquarters were transformed into a bamboo garden draped in love letters, statuaries, bowls of fruit and frothy bias-cut dresses to evoke the sense the designer marks as "she just left the room but we've captured her essence." Sofia Coppola, milliner Stephen Jones and Sidney Toledano were among the crowd of party-goers. France, Germany, Switzerland and England get a whiff of the scent in mid-October but the rest of the world will not be allowed until 2009.
